Last time I checked, the word burrito had two rs in it. They must have bought the sign for Burritos Jalisco on clearance. The thoroughly underwhelming exterior of this strip mall restaurant is matched equally by the interior. As with any burrito joint, aesthetics are usually not an indicator of the quality of the food.

After ordering, the fine looking waitress brought over some chips and two salsas. The chips were thin, light, and crispy. Both the pico de gallo and red salsa were quite good and pretty hot, causing me to down my Sidral Mundet before the burrito arrived and order another.

After listening to my burrito sizzle on the grill in the open kitchen behind the register, I was ready to chow. The excellent steak flavor was accompanied by the standard beans, lettuce, tomato and cheese. There were two small pieces of fat in the burrito, which got a little greasy on the last three bites.

Though it’s a bit of a dive, Burritos Jalisco doesn’t disappoint. Excellent value and a very good steak burrito are what I’m after. If you’re south of the Kankakee River, this is the place to go.
