San Luis recently starting offering burritos ala carte (to go only) on Wednesdays and Fridays for only $3.95. This might have been in response to La Palma (just up the Boulevard) offering their normally $4.50 burrito for $3.99 on Fridays. Hooray for competition! If you visit San Luis and dine in, be aware the steak burrito is $6.95 and comes with rice and salad.



In addition to my steak burrito, I ordered a side of chips and pico de gallo (complimentary if you dine in, but unavailable with the burrito deal.) The chips were lightly salted and very good. The pico de gallo was excellent with a strong lime flavor albeit quite hot due to an abundance of jalapeños. The red salsa that came with the burrito was good but nothing special.

This steak burrito proved to be very good overall highlighted by good steak flavor (only one piece of fat), beans, sour cream (a lot), lettuce, and cheese. Adding the pico de gallo only enhanced an already enjoyable meal.

San Luis edges out La Palma by virtue of its superior steak flavor and earns a solid 8 overall rating. Check it out.
