My first impression of Las Salsas was very positive. Upon entering I was happily greeted by the young lady behind the register. As I ordered my burrito to go I also noticed the cleanlines of the restaurant and the nicely stocked coolers filled with a wide variety of drinks, salsas, and desserts.

Las Salsas’ fairly extensive menu features 11 breakfast items, a wide variety of tacos, burritos, tortas, gorditas, sopes, and tostadas, as well as full dinners, guisados (stews), and soups (caldo tlalpeño, carne en su jugo, and menudo and pozole on weekends). You can even get American food with a Mexican twist such as a Mexican Fajita Burger and fries, Mexican Hot Dogs (garnished with tomato, onion, and peppers arranged like the Mexican flag), or a Mexican Philly Cheesesteak.

Of course the steak burrito was what I came for. Chips and salsa are complimentary had I dined in and looked quite good under the heat lamp. My burrito was very good overall although too much rice prevented me from getting a sense of the steak flavor. There was no gristle or fat in this burrito that also contained beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream. The red and green salsas were also very good and quite hot.

More steak and less rice would have bumped this burrito’s rating a little higher in both flavor and value. Regardless, Las Salsas is worth a visit and I’ll be back to try other menu items. That Mexican Philly Cheesesteak has me intrigued…

  • Great food, but bring cash. It's the only thing they accept.
